Calamus (Redemption)

Calamus (Redemption)

Calamus is a reed like aquatic plant with sword shaped leaves and small greenish-yellow flowers. As a very costly and aromatic plant it was one of the principal ingredients in the Holy Anointing Oil.

The Hebrew root word is qanah meaning to erect, extend, procure, redeem. We were purchased as His own, redeemed by the blood of Jesus to be His bride.” You were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, ... but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” 1 Peter 1:18-19. Calamus represents redemption and the bride price. John 14: 2-3, Revelation 19: 8.
