A New Season Is Upon You!

A New Season Is Upon You

It’s so wonderful to be able to explore the Bible in all its fullness, richness and glory and to search out His wisdom in all things.

I’d like to explore the meaning of the new season that is upon us – SPRING.

I’m so looking forward to the newness and freshness that the Lord will bring. How wonderful that we do not have to labour at it. God makes the wild flowers grow (Luke 12:27).

It also means that the winter season is behind us. So encouraging to read in Song of Solomon 2:11-12 “For behold, the winter is past; … The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.” ESV

Not only is there newness of life, but we can experience that in His presence. God pours forth His Spirit on us (Isaiah 44:3) to bring us times of refreshing. Act 3: 20 says “Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and He will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.” He replenishes our dry and thirsty souls that yearn for flowing streams.

And we know that Jesus is that same yesterday and today and forever (Heb 13: 8). And so we can fully trust in Him to bring these times of refreshing because He is faithful.

And just as the spring water is fresh, it brings newness of life. And we are assured that He “makes known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Ps 16: 11). This scripture brings to mind the much-quoted and famous verse in Ps 23: 2-3. Just as “He will lead you beside still waters, He restores my soul“. It’s a place of peace and tranquillity. A place of rest.

Often our times in the winter season have been fraught with turmoil and anxiety, with upheaval and storms. A time where we were anguished and downtrodden. But “rejoice now in the Lord, this is the day that He made; be glad in it” (Ps 118: 24) and “He will satisfy your weary souls. He will replenish it”. Jer 31:25

Let your spirit be refreshed. Let your soul be revived. (Ps 19:7). Let your joy come in the morning! The time for singing has come!

Spring is upon you!
