Olive Anointing Oil

1. The Hebrew word for anoint is Mashach which means to cover, rub, smear or pour oil over the head, the body, or over an object. Mashiyach means anointed – usually a consecrated person: King, Priest, Prophet and refers especially to the Messiah.

From the root word, we see that Jesus is intimately linked to the Anointing and His nature is revealed to us through the various prophetic anointing oils.

Typical uses for anointing oils include: for healing (James 5:14-15), Consecration (Exodus 30: 26–28), Sanctification (Gen 35:14), Ordination of the High Priest, a King and Prophet (Lev 21:10, 1 Sam 10:1, 1 Kings 19:16), Warfare (Is 21:5), Breaking of Bondages (Is10:27), Burial (Mark 14:3-9), Deliverance (Mark 6:12-13), Purification (Esther 2:12), Adornment (Ruth 3:3, Song 4:10), Hospitality (Luke 7: 38-46), and Invigoration (2 Sam 12:20).
