Stacte Anointing Oil

Stacte is one of the ingredients of the holy temple incense and was mixed in equal parts with onycha, galbanum, and frankincense. Exodus 30:34. The Hebrew word nataf means “drop,” corresponding to “drops of water (Job 36:27).”

The Septuagint translates nataf as stacte, a Greek word meaning “an oozing substance,” which refers to various viscous liquids, including myrrh. It was probably mixed with styrax benzoin as a carrier for this aromatic resin. Myrrh means bitter, trickle, to be sorely grieved. Just as Jesus died for us and our sins, we are to die to self and grieve for our sins. We are to purify our hearts in preparation for the meeting with our bridegroom JESUS.

Benzoin represents the voice of God (Joel 3:16), and as we express His words back to Him in an attitude of intercession, warfare, worship, and prophecy, His authority is released over our lives. In Song of Songs 4: 11 the bridegroom says to his bride “ Your lips my bride drip (nataf) honey, honey, and milk are under your tongue.

Stacte prophetically speaks of inspiration or prophecy – with a purity of heart that is expressed through the words we speak out of our lips. Daily we are to submit to His Holiness at the Altar of Incense and to be cleansed from all impurities, laying down all selfishly desires Eph 4: 29, Matt 12:34.
