Dealing With Difficult People, God's Way is a biblically grounded course on handling difficult people. It teaches ten common difficult behaviour patterns, the intention driving each one, and a specific response to each, within a scriptural framework. It covers blending, redirecting and listening properly, and how to remain composed and gracious without becoming a doormat. The same content is available in a secular edition.

The particular difficulty for a believer

You have been taught to turn the other cheek, to be gracious, to bear with one another in love. All of it true.

None of it told you what to do about the person in your congregation, your family or your workplace who has been steadily taking advantage of exactly that.

So you absorb it, because objecting feels unchristian. And the resentment builds anyway, which feels worse, because now you are both accommodating them and failing at grace.

Being gracious and being a doormat are not the same thing, and Scripture is considerably clearer about that than most of us were taught.

What this course covers

The same ten difficult behaviour patterns and the same practical skills as the secular edition, presented within a biblical framework:

• Ten common difficult behaviour patterns, each identified and addressed individually.

• The intentions driving difficult behaviour, which changes how you feel as well as what you do.

• Blending, redirecting and listening properly, the practical communication skills underneath a gracious response.

• How to keep your own peace regardless of how the other person behaves.

• The scriptural grounding for firmness, boundaries and confrontation done well.

Who this is for

Pastors, elders and ministry leaders. Church members dealing with someone difficult inside the congregation. Christians in workplaces and families who have been accommodating for years and are quietly worn down by it. And anyone who wants to be firm without feeling they have failed at grace.

Common questions

Is being firm unchristian? No. The assumption that it is has done a great deal of damage to a great many gracious people. The course addresses this directly and scripturally.

How is this different from the secular edition? The ten patterns, the intentions and the practical skills are identical. Only the framing and grounding change.

What if it is abuse rather than difficulty? Then this is the wrong resource and we would rather say so. Persistent abusive behaviour needs a different kind of help than a course, in church contexts as much as anywhere else. Please seek proper support.
